Student Readiness to Learn and the School Ready to Teach
An Internet Essay and Collection of Selected Documents

This Internet essay and collection of web documents has been prepared by the Canadian Association of Principals for the Income Security and Social Development Studies, Applied Research Branch of Human Resource Development Canada. Over 100 selected documents are linked with the summaries that explain and discuss the issues associated with schools being ready to support young children as they begin school. The emphasis is on practical strategies that are well-based in research.

This set of Internet resources is intended to assist school-based administrators and others to enhance the readiness of their schools and other agencies and to support parents.

Each of the 27 mini-summaries prepared by CAP here also has links to several other documents published elsewhere on the Internet. While the collection is not exhaustive, the materials listed here will prepare educators well to begin their efforts to improve their schools' capacity to welcome, support and teach young children. Good luck with those efforts!
