Restorative Justice:
Alternatives to
Suspension and Incarceration
Restorative justice approaches can be applied
in the school and community settings as alternatives to suspending students from school or
incarcerating youth in institutions. This approach enables the young offender to offer
restitution, while punishment is combined with rehabilitation services and opportunities
to break out of the cycles of antisocial behaviour.
